Description
Why sites get hacked
It’s almost never a targeted attack. Automated bots scan the entire internet for websites running software with a known, published and already-fixed weakness. They find the ones nobody has updated. That’s the whole story for the vast majority of websites that were compromised. It was avoidable, but nobody applied the security update on time. Our website care plan is simply someone making sure your website is updated, backed up and looked after, so you don’t have to remember until it’s too late. But, there is more!
What’s included every month in the website care plan
| Updates | Core, plugins and themes – with a backup taken first, every time |
| Daily backups | Stored off-site, 30 days of history, tested |
| Uptime monitoring | We know your site is down before your customers tell you |
| Malware scanning | Monthly, with alerts |
| 30 minutes of changes | Text edits, new photos, updated prices, opening hours |
| Priority response | Within 24 hours, Monday to Friday |
| Quarterly health report | One page. What we did, what needs attention. |
About those 30 minutes
Most website care plans don’t include any. We include half an hour because we know what actually happens: you need a phone number changed or a price updated, it feels too small to bother anyone about, so it sits wrong for eight months.
Send it over. Thirty minutes a month covers most small jobs. Anything bigger, we quote at £45/hour before starting – never a surprise invoice.
The 30 minutes doesn’t roll over.
Why not just do it yourself
You can. Clicking “update all” takes about a minute. The problem is the other fifty-nine: knowing which update will break your checkout before you apply it, taking a backup you’ve actually tested restoring, spotting the plugin that was abandoned by its developer two years ago and is now the open door, and being the person who notices at 7am on a Sunday that the site is down. We do this across dozens of sites every week, so we recognise the patterns and we have the tools already running. Most owners we speak to didn’t skip the updates because they didn’t care. They skipped them because it was never anyone’s actual job, and the week it mattered they were busy running their business. With the website care plan it becomes our job, and you get your evenings back.
Not included in the website care plan
- New features, new pages or design work beyond the 30 minutes (£45/hour, quoted first)
- Hosting, domain and licence fees – those stay in your name, as they should
- Emergency recovery if you’re already infected – but website care plan clients get 50% off our Emergency Hack Recovery
- Recovery of data with no backup from before you joined
The honest math
£150 a month is £1,800 a year.
A single hack recovery is £950, plus the days your site is offline, plus the enquiries you never hear about because Google showed a red warning screen instead of your homepage.
We’re not going to claim that our website care plan makes you invulnerable. Nothing does. It removes the most common cause of small business websites getting hacked, which is nobody applying the updates.
Simple terms of our website care plan
Rolling monthly. 30 days’ notice to cancel – no minimum term, no exit fee.
If you leave we send you a final full backup within five working days.
We’d rather keep you because it’s working than because you’re locked in.
