About CodeThem
Hi, I’m Peter. I build and look after websites for businesses.
I’m a web developer in Stoke-on-Trent and I run CodeThem. Websites, online shops, web applications, fixing sites that are broken, slow or hacked, and adding AI to the systems you already have. I do the work myself, and when you get in touch, it’s me who replies.

18 years
Building software since 2008, long before “web developer” was a trend.
Direct Line
You speak to the person writing your code. No account managers, no queue.
Zero Lock-in
Leave whenever you like, with everything you own.
AI – checked
I use AI when it saves you time and money. But, I read and test every line it writes.

The person who quotes your project is the person who builds it, and the person you call if something goes wrong.
Who you’ll be working with
One developer, by design. That’s me.
When a job needs more hands, I bring in freelance developers I’ve worked with for years, and I stay responsible for all of it. You don’t get passed to an account manager or a junior.
I started my first company in 2008 and sold it in 2011. I spent the next five years building software platforms and custom business systems, then started CodeThem in 2016. That’s eighteen years of building things other businesses rely on every day.
I only take on a few projects at a time, so I can give each one proper attention. If I can’t do your job well inside your timeframe, I’ll tell you on the first call.
What I can help with
Websites, shops, apps, fixes and AI
Find the one that sounds like you.
A new website
Built to bring in enquiries, not just look nice.
An online shop
Easy to run, and easy to buy from.
Fix an existing site
Slow, outdated, broken or hard to update? I’ll sort it.
Hacked site recovery
If your site has been hacked, call me. That one isn’t an email conversation. +44 (0) 7512 808928
Custom web applications
Systems built around how your business actually works.
Put AI to work in your business
AI tools set up to save your team hours every week, with clear rules on how to use them and your data kept safe.
Audit an app built with AI tools
Built with Lovable, Bolt or Cursor? Get it checked for bugs and security before it takes real customers or payments.
Ongoing care
Updates, security, backups and changes, so you don’t have to think about it.
Extra capacity for agencies
A reliable senior developer when your team needs more hands.
Not sure which you need? That’s fine. Tell me what’s going on and I’ll tell you honestly what I’d do.
What you can count on
Promises you can hold me to
Working with one person raises a fair question: what happens if something goes wrong? Here’s my answer.
You’ll always know where things stand
Regular written updates while your project is running, including the weeks when there isn’t much to report.
Bad news arrives early
If something is going to be late, you’ll hear it from me as soon as I know, not on the deadline.
Fixed price, agreed up front
Scope in writing before anything starts. No surprise invoices.
Your website is yours
Host it with me or on your own server, it’s your call. The domain, code and logins are always in your name, so you can leave whenever you like. No lock-in.
I’m still here afterwards
I’m working with one client continuously since 2017. I’m not going anywhere.
No job too small
A broken contact form or a quick text change is worth a message. You don’t need a big project to work with me.
What I won’t do
What I’ll never do to your business
Eighteen years of seeing what can go wrong, so you don’t have to.
- I won’t tell you that you need a new website when fixing the old one would do.
- I won’t hand your project to someone else without telling you who and why.
- I won’t take on a job I can’t deliver on time. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll say so, and point you to someone who is.
- I won’t quote a price I plan to change later.
- I won’t sell you AI for a job that doesn’t need it.
- I won’t put your customers’ data through an AI tool without telling you exactly where it goes.
Got a new project, or a website giving you trouble?
Whether you’ve got a project in mind, a website that’s giving you trouble, or you’re just not sure where to start, get in touch. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help. If I can’t, I’ll tell you who can.
